The itinerary:

The Fortress of Bourtange. Not to capture!
Start at 12.30 PM

A luxurious coach will take you from our meetingpoint, the base of the Tower of Saint Martin at the Grote Markt, to the south-eastern part of the province of Groningen. Under the supervision of a professional tourist guide you will enjoy the sightseeing of a region full of contrasts: from wide open farmlands and ‘park-like’ landscapes to rectangular parcels of land with straight canals of former fens.

We will enter the Fortress of Bourtange by crossing a drawbridge over a moat. Four-hundred years ago, Bourtange was one of the most important fortresses in the Northern part of the Netherlands. Ater about a 30-minutes guided tour, you will have plenty of time to admire the beautifully restored ramparts, parapets and fortifications. You can enter the historical Captain’s house, the old synagogue, the barracks and the powder magazines. It will be a day to remember: you get the opportunity to revive the past. A wonderful experience for people of all ages.

After a day of learning and relaxing we will head back to Groningen, we will arrive at the Grote Markt, at the base of the tower of Saint Martin, around 6 PM.
